tipups are a slow method of bringing them in, but they are a lot of fun once you get some action going..
I would be happy with a 12 inch perch any day of the week.

good job, next time wear gloves while pulling in the line, this way you can allow them the oppertunity to run as you tighten your hand on the line tireing him out sooner.
and a gaff is a must. get one with out barbs so you can safely bring them in just incase you want to release them un harmed.
