Stopped by Ririe on the way home from the ski hill this evening. At first I was concerned. From th eroat it looked like a fair amount of either open water or standing water. Once I got down there though I saw 3 sets of people out there. There is about 5 feet of open water at the bottom of the ramp. Off the end of the dock is still solid though. Walking out was a bit erie though d/t the ice being very clear w/ a few bubbles and cracks visible. Plus the ice was frozen in waves so it looked like it had scales. At one of the holes it was about 5 inches thick. There are areas w/ a skim of water on top, usually around open holes. BTW, be careful if you go out, the 10 inch auger holes blend very well w/ the surrounding dark ice so they can be difficult to spot. No one was catching well either. One guy had 2 kokes and said he'd gotten one other hit. Another group had 2 trout from between the rockpile and shore, but the ice was getting pretty thin in that area. The other group had zero luck at all west of the pile. If the forecast is accurate and we stay below freezing the next few days it should be fine. Take your yak trax though.
