HOW MANY WILD STEELHEAD DID YOU KILL THIS YEAR?
#15
Hey thanks for the info. The problem with the study is that all salmon and most steelhead are on a "delayed mortality" run anyway. The question is whether or not they successfully spawn before they kick (or fin in this case) the perverbial bucket. I would bet that in most cases the salmon and steelhead do successfully spawn, even after this stress situation.

I do agree that most people need to be faster with their pictures, and should not keep fish out of the water too long. Have the shot framed before you lift the fish from the water, then put them back as fast as you can.

I also agree with mmdawn that the visits I have made to the Salmon R. in Idaho do not prove this study to be accurate. I have not seen many, or really any, dead carcusses rolling down the river as I fished. And I have been going up there for a week of fishing every year for the past 6 yrs. So where are all the dead fish?
