One tactic I like to use is I drill a bunch of holes around our main set up so that others can join us if the school comes around. And I also drill a couple of groups of holes 30 to 40 yards out. Usually I'll drill five holes in the satellite groupings and put one pole in the middle hole down about 25 feet or so, on this pole I have a bite buzzer, if it gets hit the buzzer goes off and then we grab a few poles and head over. When the school is around I never bother to rebait, just get your hook back down asap. Your right about the larger groups being able to hold the schools longer, sometimes it just seems the fish won't stick around no matter what, other times its been only a couple of us and the school stayed under us for a long time. Probably the best tactic is make friends with your neighbors and ask if you can fish with them if the fish come through and invite them to do the same.
