I fished Ririe this afternoon and the fishing was pretty good. I ended up with my limit and started releasing fish. I landed 10 total.
I was fishing by myself and one thing I noticed was I would see a school of fish on my flasher and I would get 1 maybe 2 before they left and then a group to the west of me would start catching them and they could hold them because they had 8 or 9 guys. The last school that came through I was able to catch 1 and they left. The guys to the west started catching them and they must have stayed there for 20 or 30 minutes. I slid over to a hole near them and I managed to land 6 in 15 or 20 minutes.
From what I saw today and the previous trips this year if you are with a large group and a good size school moves in you can keep them there. If you are in a small group or by yourself you pick up a few as they pass through.
I think the guys by me were only fishing 2 rods each and they would jig both rods at the same time. I don't think I will mess with 5 rods anymore. I usually catch most of the fish on 1 or 2 rods and the others just sit, and if they do get a bite I usually don't make it there in time to catch them.
These are just my observations. What are your thoughts?
