since the dog was tied to the dock and mt. home had to walk into the area of the dog was he to swim to his truck ? i will TOTALLY agree that you draw a firearm you should be using it. no question. i am glad the firearm wasn't discharged however. so your answer is to let mt. home and his kids walk by a dog snarling at them in harms way and you are o.k. with that ? and so what for packing whille fishing i do it everytime i go around kids , elderly, everyone. you have nothing to fear. i enjoy shooting if the fishing is slow if it is in a safe area with a backstop or i enjoy the expression for my 2nd amendment right to carry as well. if the dog was on a leash and i had several feet to pass buy snarling slobering mad it would be fine if the distance was only a couple of feet which i would believe was the case here the person bringing there dog to the end of the dock and tying it to the dock within biting distance is just asking for trouble and in this case he found it.
