well I'm back already!!! It was one cold S.O.B out there thismorning.. Any way water is open. I'm almost all spots on the river from mccammon upstream don't know about further down from mccammon as I didn't go there.. I only fished one spot for about an hour and in that hour I hooked into one fish guesing a brown as I've never caught anything else from this particular spot.. And it broke me off after about 3 min of fighting it.. It was hooked on a barbless so don't worry [angelic] and I was using 6 pound test... Mono.. With a black leech cut'r bug I was slowly bouncing it across the bottom I mean super slow to as the fish I scene in there just looked super un excited to be in that cold cold river.. I'm sure if the water where I was, were to be slow enoug it would have been froze.. So the fish were moving super slow. And didn't seem very interested in much. I just happen to cross the ones path and got him excited to bite and once he bit the fight was on to bad I couldn't get it in kinda disapointed felt like a real nice one.. And for those that want to fish upper portneuf above lava the sportsman access are not plowed out so it will take a serious 4wd or snowmachine to get right up to the river other than that it's walking in from the main road. Which isn't a bad walk for those that know the area.. The river is still super high as well above lava I think there is a beaver dam some where in the system. Need to go find it and tear it out.. Probly will come spring if any one wants to help me find it then rip it out.. Any way that's the portneuf report. I plan on going again some time soon..
