25 pound, 3 ounce Idaho rainbow
#4
No, it isn't even close, since it is a Gerrard, or Kamloops rainbow. The F & G list Kamloops separately. The current record for a Kamloops is 37 pounds. The whole debate about kamloops versus gerrard vs. other rainbow is a weird one. There are differences, mainly a greater scale count on the kamloops/gerrards. Our kamloops in Pend Oreille came from Kootenay Lake, but they call them gerrards. I have heard people on this site claim they are different, but how can they be? In the 30's, a scientist discovered that there is a difference, but it is caused by the environment, not genetics. That is why you can't move them from Kootenay or Pend Oreille lakes and get huge trout developing in other waters. The fact that they eat kokanee is why they get so huge. Mike
