Yeah, it's six months to qualify for a residency license. That's six months from the time you actually apply to change your residency, not six months from the time you move here. I waited two months before applying for residency to get the maximum amount of time out of my WA car tags, and found I couldn't qualify for a resident fishing license until six months after that.

In your case, I don't think it would make a difference as far as the timing goes. If they ask why you have a non-resident fishing license and are applying for a resident hunting license, just show them your driver's license and explain you got the fishing license before you could qualify.

BTW, you may want to hold off until you qualify for a resident fishing license anyway, considering it's almost $100 for a non-resident license opposed to $26.

If you're active military, the residence requirement is only 30 days, though.
