Had to pick some things from my parents today, so after Chesterfield we drove to Bear Lake and spent the night. Made it to Montpelier by 8:00 and had a fish on by 8:01. The first hour was nuts with very fast action. We stayed till noon icing 35 trout cutts and bows, biggest 14'', plus we iced 8 perch biggest 6''. These fish are quite pretty, and the cutts although small would make for a great wildlife portrait. They hit on almost anything, but seemed to like a green sparkle paddlebug the most. Mealies outdid crawlers 2:1. Fished in 38-20 feet of water. I marked fish nonstop all morning on the Vex and I am sure there would be a second bite in the late afternoon. After 10:00 AM the bite became very lite, but still managed to get a few. Ice was just over 4''. This was a great fishing day!
