Jigs,
I appreciate the healthy debate, and you are absolutly correct on the wind that it can blow Bear Lake clean and quickly. However, according to the Bear Lake Visitors Bureau Bear Lake freezes 4 out 5 years here is the link: http://www.bearlake.org/icefishing.html As of late it has been freezing less, I looked up previous fishing archives from BFT and this is what I found 2002 (Froze) 2003 (No Ice) 2004 (Froze) 2005 (Briefly/Unsafe/Wind) 2006 (Froze) 2007 (Froze) 2008 (Froze) 2009 (No Safe Ice 10-20% froze) 2010 (Partial/Unsafe Ice) I will agree that when Bear Lake freezes it will be a short season, and in my research of the last eight years I only found one series of posts doumenting 16+ inches of ice. Please know I enjoy reading your reports and I have used them to improve my own fishing.
