Hi Michael
Not meant to rub anyone the wrong way on any Henry Lake issue.
The 90% number is a statistical number only. I have no way to prove wrong or right! It's a very high number and not sure I buy that high of number. However, I have nothing to disprove it so, it is what it is, a talking point.
The Opening and Fall dock slaughter fest I do have an issue. My proposal to the F&G is to allow kids and the elderly a neat fishing opportunity. For the average Joe lets get out on the lake and fish for them. Just doesn't seem fair chase to me but to each his own I guess. After 30 like that how exciting really can it be? Just offering a solution to what looks and appears ugly. Not looking down on anyone personally just the "event" itself. I have seen dads fishing with thier kids---great opportunity. I have seen some elderly---great opportunity. I have seen women that wouldnt normally enjoy fishing enjoy the treat. Don't look down on that at all. However, I have seen people rip trebles thru the masses snagging, kicking fish back in when they were not big enough, kids fishing without parents not being taught how to release a fish appropriatetly, people in a frenzy and almost getting killed by people trying to dock thier boats. A mess is a mess---what do you do you clean it up! Not asking it to be banished totally just cleaned up.
The other issue around poaching, over the limit, bottling and the other illegal behavior. I will do my part to prevent it and will turn violaters into the F&G. Especially those who are willingly and knowingly not following the law. I know however for a fact that Damon and the F&G are on the lake. They have to operate under thier guidlines just like everyone else.
Are there unethical and rude people in boats yes. Do they slaughter fish, mishandle, leave fish to die etc ---yes they do! Doesn't make one issue any better than the other or justify the same. If we want to make a resource last we protect it. It all needs to be watched and protected wether its on shore or on the water.
If I am protective and I will continue to fight for the lake as a resource to the masses. I don't want a few to ruin it for me or anyone else. I will continue to work with Damon and Dan. They have heard my rants
and mind you they are not rants for just fly fishermen or bait fishermen they are about protecting the lake.
Over all comments to everything Michael so don't take offense. Just trying to get a message out.
