Fishing in the ocean stuff like this is routine. Sharks and barracudas make an easy meal out of hooked fish being brought in. Better to just try to then catch the predator and not make the mistake Hemingway did. He shot himself trying to kill the shark after his fish on the line. Who'd ever of thought a big rod with a fish weighing hundreds of pounds on , sharks and firing a machine guns from a boat wasn't a good combination[crazy]. Had a 6+ ft shark cut a king mackerel in half about 20 yds from the boat and then surface on the other side of us. Pretty cool to see and still enough mackerel left for dinner[
]. I don't know of anyone that uses a stringer in the ocean but probable not a good idea in fresh water when big predators are around either.
