I'm from Utah and we get some big Channel Cats up here...up to about 15 pounds is not too uncommon. The best bait I've used is very simple...just a chunck of carp meat or white bass meat on a hook with no wait, let is sink lightly to the bottom. Can't beat it, and it stinks a lot less than all that other sh**. Anyway it has produced plenty of big cats for me.
