My favorite trout rig is a 4 1/2 foot ugly stik ultra-light with a little Shakespeare Alpha 20 ultralight spinning reel with 4 lb test flourocarbon line. I put a #5 split shot 18-20" above a #8 hook with a cheese Power-worm threaded on. Cast it out and retrieve slow. The stockers hammer this thing. The trick is to be patient and not set the hook because a lot of times they've just got a hold of the tail of the worm and you'll rip it away from them. When they grab the hook they tend to hook themselves when they try to run with the worm against my slow retrieve. I seem to catch a few more of the larger hold over variety using this method.
