Henry's Lake plantings
#35
Just to go in another direction. Why not reduce the number of fingerlings planted in Henry's Lake to 1 million and plant the remaining .7 million throughout the other lakes in southern Idaho? Chesterfield could easily handle another 100,000 to 200,000 fish to help with the catch rate there. Other lakes could take the rest. Also, those who help plant the fingerlings in Henrys report pelicans, cormorants, and fish are there to eat thousands of the fingerlings that are planted.
If there's a 30% survival rate the first year that means a little over a half million survive the first year. What's the survival rate for year 2?
For a lake that big maybe 1.7 mil is a good number. I wouldn't mind if they put some fingerlings in Chesterfield too, but I like the Kamloops strain of bow's they put there. Jack up the number of the triploids there. Looking at the DWR's stocking report- they planted last May and only 30+ thousand.
I vote to put Damon in charge of Chesterfield too.[Smile]
