Good Camera?
#8
I'm with Mike on this one. I've been a devoted Nikon user for the past several years and didn't think that there was any better point and shoot camera out there that wasn't a Nikon. After conducting some research, I just recently purchased a Panasonic LX3 for right at 400 bucks and couldn't be happier. It has a ton of features that make using it extremely easy, particularly the intelligent auto setting. Here's a couple of pics from earlier this week that I downsized considerably to post. The image file size that the camera operates with under normal conditions (while adjustable) is by default quite large. I particularly like the 16:9 format considering it fits the size and general layout of my monitor. The format is also something that's easy to adjust based on the switch being built right into the lens. I think that in general, you probably can't go wrong with choosing Olympus, Nikon or Canon either but I've been more than happy with the results from the Panasonic thus far.

Just a note on the Bull Trout picture, after reading an earlier post I just wanted to demonstrate to how easy it can be to get pics of Bull Trout without ever removing them from the water. I wonder if there's any consideration or studies being conducted to consider possibly de-listing them as an endangered species. I've gone up to the S. Fork of the Boise 3 times this summer and caught and safely released several Bull Trout during each trip. The best day was when I caught and released 8 during 3 hours of fishing so it seems that the population is fairly healthy in that river at least. I probably would never keep one anyway but was kind of wondering what determines when they're no longer considered an endangered species. My guess is that there's more of them than there are wolves [Wink]
