Boise River (In Town)????
#8
Hands down the best lure for Boise River brown trout is a chartreuse bodied rooster tail, orange coming in a close second. You have to get your spinner down deep in the rocks; expect to lose plenty. I make my own so I can afford to fish them effectively. The only time I fish for them nowadays is when the river is at it's lowest. I don't start until I know the spawn is over--usually around late November--then through the winter months. Most years the action slows down in late February. Best areas are between Americana and Barber. Since this photo was taken, I have switched to barbless siwash hooks.
