Looking for input in SW Idaho
#3
I would stop at Tackle Tom's in Cascade and ask them - they are nice helpful folks. The best flyfishing in that area is in lakes but the Secesh is good like Kodiak says and you can also fish the South Fork of the Salmon or the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon. You can access the South Fork from Warm Lake Road by Cascade or you can drive from McCall on Lick Creek Road on the way to Yellow Pine to get to the Secesh and East Fork or you can drive a big loop and do them all. The roads aren't great but it is beautiful country. All of these places are catch and release single barbless hooks. Make sure you check with either the Highway Dept or somebody about road/bridge closures. Cutthroat love high riding fluffy flies like Royal Coachman, Humpys or big Adams and they are the perfect fish for a first time flyfisher as they tend to be willing. Another option is the North Fork of the Payette River between Upper Payette Lake and Big Payette Lake or even above the upper Payette Lake where is it more of a creek. I hope you have fun.
