Leaps of happiness
#1
My son and I were up wandering back and forth from Idaho to Wyoming this weekend. Hoppers where still small but extremely plentiful on the couple places we fished. On a small stream around 6000 ft they ran size 12 -16 and where abundant. On a river up at 8000-9000 ft the hoppers where size 14-22 and leaping around by the thousands and everywhere we looked. Smallest hopper we had where size 12 but that worked well on both. Not to name streams but the cutoff before Smoot for the river was just cleared of the last snow Friday. Need at least 12 inches of clearance to get through the mud still. Probable will dry out quickly but if you're dragging a trailer up for the 24th weekend I'd drive through Alpine despite the heavy infestation of ATVer and cows down low. The upper stretches of that river are fairly high compared to the last 5 years but gin clear and fishing extremely well. Too busy keeping my son safe with the fast current to get any pics on the river but got a couple on the small stream.
