My bad...I thought you were talking one box in each side - the size of the soft pockets. To give the pockets some rigidity, so you could reach in and grab ONE lure of fly box with out the sides collapsing. Something you can put those Plano or whatever boxes in.
Like I said, I had one big plastic box for that reason, and IN that box I had several smaller fly boxes, plus extras like floatant, split shot, indicators...etc.
That is why I didn't understand the lid issue...the lure/fly boxes had their own lids.
