I was at Twin Lakes yesterday from 12 to 5pm. Not the best fishing times, but the weather was nice--sunny, hot, and calm.(a miracle that the wind wasn't blowing!). There were a couple of ski boats and jet skies out, but they were very nice and courteous.
I fished the north lake from the dam up the west side to the end of the island. I saw fish on the sonar in the deeper water, but either I wasn't getting my fly down to them or they didn't like my offering. I did catch about 5 or 6 trout in the 20 ft zone. Most of everything else was caught in 10 ft or less.
I caught only1 crappie, a bunch of the smaller bass, and about 15 to 20 bluegills. The gills were scarcer than in times past, but both theirs and the bass's average size was larger. The bass I caught were mostly 10 to 13 inches which is up from an average of 8 to 10 inches.
I think that the bass are really starting to put a hurt on the gills and crappie.
