If you're new to a 'toon, all it takes is PRACTICE! All I wanted when I first got my 'toon was a keel/rudder, but after a few days on the water, the straight tracking becomes second nature. Make sure to adjust your oars so the handles come pretty close together at mid-stroke. If you have them so they're wide it's harder to row evenly. You lose a little stroke length on the paddle end, but you gain control.
