As response to your question, I would go and tell him to please either leave the area or I would contact the authorities. I would explain yes it is a free country except with what he was doing was against the law and with kids present he was totally wrong. I would try to keep it from going into a physical confrontation. I would get all the information about him and his vehicle I could.
If it turned physical I am confident in the training and experience I have I could handle the situation, but saying that you want to avoid that at all cost. In worst case scenario happens if it becomes a deadly situation to me or my family I have no reservations on protecting my family by any means I can.
Like I said I would keep it verbal and keep the tone of the conversation as low key and away from arguing. Most of the time a person just wants to get into a fight. If you do not give them the chance they will cuss you out and leave.
