Would that be the natural flood runoff that roars through the Imperial Palace parking garage every time we get a little rain? I'm thinking thats not a river to be tapped. This city continues to try to grow itself beyond what it can sustain through water, power, and employment. Now that would be bad enough, except every other city in the southwest is trying to do the same thing. The original plan and water agreements were put in place during a 1200 year high in the flows of the Colorado River. As was stated earlier, it was around 1999 or 2000 that Arizona finally started taking its full allotment. I'm pretty sure we can all see where this is going. Inflow levels are actually pretty decent for Mead, the problem is outflow (demand) is much higher. We had a drought, yes, but we don't really have a drought now. We just have too many people and too much water waste in the southwest. Kind of interesting that illegal immigration is really coming to a head now with the strain on state budgets. I wonder if a connection can also be made to the number of illegals in Arizona, southern California, and southern Nevada and the ever increasing demand on the Colorado River.
