From my understanding, the "fast" and "extra fast" means how whippy the rod is.
An extra fast rod will bend mostly in the top of the rod.
For small cranks and lightweight plastics (4/5 inch senkos, 4 inch dingers, 4 inch sliders, etc.), I'd probably go with extra.
The best thing for you to do, since the rod does cost a few dollars, is try to get to a store and grab any extra fast and fast rod and test them out. They won't be exactly the same as the one you are buying but you'll be able to see the difference.
Also, I know it's a bit of a hassle but you can always return the rod to cabelas if it dosn't work out for you.
Personally, I'm more of an in person rod/reel buyer. I really need to feel it and hold it before I can buy it.
Good Luck.
