Thanks for the feedback which sounds like real world experience. While I agree that the maximizer type controls will be more efficient than the coils, it just doesn't seem right that the same amount of battery power is used on all five settings w/o it. I do know that there is a hugh difference in output between levels 4 & 5 with only a slight pickup in speed so it seems that 5 should be reserved for racing back to shore at the end of the day.
Seems like a smaller prop (assuming the same pitch) would be like shifting into lower gear on your bike. It requires less effort (maybe more rpm though) but you don't go as fast.
Peter, you're welcome to try my 40# motor once I get a battery to see how you like it.
