how heavily are you using your fish finder to locate sturgeon? i don't cast a line until i see larg log-looking shapes comming up off the bottom of the fish finder, i meander around in the boat untill i come across sturgeon on the fish finder then throw my rods out behind me. it might help if you have a dual-beam sonar, use the wide beam to locate the general area and then go to the smaller beam and make a second pass to pin-point the sturgeon. smaller the angle of the second beam, the better.
