I have done really well out there on lizard patterns (in clear with a chartreuse trail and smoke with green or chartreuse), and blood red reapers, both fished texas rigged with the lightest weight you can cast (or flip) and working the holes in the weeds (early and late where the light is low). When the sun is high, fish the bases of the flooded trees using the same rigs, a little heavier weight. If you hit the magic moment, buzz-baits and top water rigs are a lot of fun,. but it is a rare occasion when those stars align...
