So, I thought I'd give little Camas a try today (yes, rain and all), even though they've had salvage fishing in the fall the past 2 years and the hope of holdover trout is nil. Stocking report indicated that the place was stocked with rainbows the end of April. Well, not a trout to be seen. No rises, no trout strikes, nothing. What was to be had were smallmouth bass. Caught and released 6 between 10 and 13 inches and my fishing buddy caught several as well. Smaller GBH black or brown woolly buggers or black leech patterns. With the draw downs the past few years pretty much decimating the current trout fishery in Camas, perhaps the place is changing to become a smallmouth fishery. Won't go there again for trout until it stays filled for consecutive years, but if you are into fly fishing for smallmouths off a pontoon or float tube....................................
