I caught the big boy on a size 14 black and tan leech pattern. Also had good luck on a fly we call the "Action Jackson", it is the same as a black and tan except the chennille has copper flash in it. Tried a "Halloween" but didn't get many takes.
The "Biggs" fly (aka Ducktail) is always a good go to bug but I've never used very big ones, generally a 14 ad 16. A freind of mine ties a fly he calls the "Magic Carrot", it's a shiny orange kevlar type body with black dubbed on for the head and a black marrabou tail and it worked great this past weekend even in the crappy weather.
