I'm sure about every few months or so, someone new (like me) shows up asking about what fins to get for their float tube. First of all, take TubeDude's advice and get them LAST. He has written a few posts on things to consider when getting fins for tubing. I know some prefer to use the type of fins I originally bought which are the Caddis Kick Tube fins. They ain't bad but they ain't great. I used them on a few trips with my wader boots. They work but you don't get tons of propulsion from them.
Wildcat94 and TubeBabe both suggested I get new fins so I didn't have to work so hard to propel my considerable mass through the water. Based on TubeDude's and Wildcat94's advice, I got some Mares Avanti X3 fins. They showed up at my house this morning so I braved the weather and hit Utah Lake for a couple of hours. The difference was unbelievable. I wear a size 10.5 or 11 shoe (depends on the brand) and I bought the fins in the Regular size. I got them from [url "http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/MRSFAX.html"]Leisure Pro[/url]. I wasn't working half as hard as with the Caddis fins and got way more propulsion from them.
