It's frustrating, I feel your pain. I went to a local pond yesterday and spotted a bass clearing out a bed. I threw a tube, senko, dropshot, x-rap that suspended right over the top of his bed-NOTHING! I watched him puff up and literally blow my bait or sinker off his bed. The exact opposite of what he is supposed to do!!! I ended up cutting a senko in half (watermelon) and dragged it on his bed and he slammed it, go figure.
I found another bed and used a weightless texas rigged hula grub, one of my own [
], and the action on the skirt was amazing. The bass went off it's bed and attacked it before I could even flip the bail. Those were the only two bass I caught but many were on beds.
All I can say is keep at it, you will find the right bait or you will eventually make them
and trigger a bite. I don't want to sound preachy but when you do catch a bass on a bed please release it, they will go back to their bed and continue to spawn.
