If the common thought among anglers who kill whitefish and suckers is that they are helping to improve the fishery, or are depleting their numbers, then another think is required. Neither outcome is acheived. Even if it was desireable to eradicate them, it would take thousands of fishermen, fishing 24-7, a very long time to clean out a stream like the South Fork of the Snake. Then they would re-populate quickly afterward. All that's acheived by tossing fish on the bank is the fouling of the air and feeding the ants and magpies.
