Salmon fishing
#21
Having spent the last couple of years in Washington I have done plenty of drift and plunking. I prefer to plunk with a bobber. But, I believe drift is alot less expensive especially when using yarn and corkie. Be prepared to lose alot of rigs. I would always set up 5-10 before heading out. from a boat I say Drift. You have acess to more river and less shoreline obstructions. That still won't stop the salmon from running underneath the branches, rocks, jumping, etc and taking your line. But at least you should get to them before losing the rig. [:p] I'll probably get in trouble saying this, but to hook the big one just watch for the V in the river it will be moving up the river. Manipulate the rig to go right in front of it and you'll probably get the fish. Wish I had the time and money to go this year, but those are the breaks sure I'll make it up next year. Another tip to use yarn and corkie Run the line through the eye but tie it to the hook with a blood knot creating a loop. Place yarn in the loop and pull tight. then make sure to use a beed between the hook and corkie as well as between any additional corkies this will help the corkies to spin. Cost per rig apx $0.25 vs $1.99 at the store.[fishin]
