trout bead question

This spring I was steelhead fishing using trout beads fishing on only a six inch leader a majority of the fish inhaled the bead or were hooked in the top of the mouth and were sitting in dead water or directly down stream at the bottom of the hole wich would make very difficult to be catching them flossing also with a 18 inch leader with the same results.And watching the other fishermen saw that they were all doing it the same way so I'm possitive it is a sporting way of fishing and it works so I say go for it if you want some fish at the end of the day.
