Seems that states only jump on the bandwagon when it is in their favor and a money making deal. When this is all said and done, there will be more fees because the critters will be here. The states will want more money to remove them, which will not happen. There is No stopping them, period. Every ones efforts will be in vain because there is always one person out there who does not care. If they end up in the Snake, imagine how far they can spread. You can not stop the birds. Look at the number of migratory birds and where they go and come from. I am not against educating people and cleaning my equipment as this will slow down the inevitable, but the mussels and snails are coming, like it or not. Tourism will only be for the very rich who can afford to have a boat on every lake in every state that he fishes. The costs and hassles of owning a boat will cause regular owners to sell them.
Maybe we can get some Obama money for this. It seems he likes to throw money at hopeless solutions.
I would prefer having my fees sent to a research facility so they could come up with something to kill the mussels and snails with out hurting anything else or find something that likes to eat them and keeps them under control. There needs to be a more permanent solution to this problem.
One thing is for sure, there is a change coming to the western states. Some good, most bad, but we will all have to deal with it sooner or later.
