grey herons live in asia,
I would say what you probably saw was a sandhill crane or a great blue heron. and if it was in a feild I would say it was the sand hill crane, they can be found feeding in farmers feilds right about now.
at a distance the great blue heron and the sand hill crane can be easily mistaken for each other. but a good tell tail sign is the red cap of the sandhill crane if you are close enough to see it.
because of the similar body size and greyish color, I could see how it could bemistaken for a peahen.
