I'm going to a crappie pond here in Poinsett county Arkansas in the "sunken lands" game reserve next saturday and might some GREAT photo's to post.
The pond hold's white and black Crappie that average 2.5 lbs. ( if you know the "holes")
Most caught there are 1lb + if you get on the right hole.

*edit: Just wanted to add the pond we are going to crappie fish next saturday had an exciting moment last spring when a crappie fisherman made the news with a 3lb 8oz black crappie from the same pond.
It holds some huge crappie and is one of the best kept secrets here in Poinsett county. Even after the Jonesboro news reported on his catch the craze faded because the "holes" are the secret. The pond isn't that large, about 3 acres but if you don't know the "holes" you can crappie fish there all day and only catch the 1lb or less and a few 1lb +...
hehehe it's good to be a local in a pond that has the potential to produce the state record crappie.
