If its a little windy I will usually tie 2 small jigs about a foot apart under a bobber (clear) and cast it down wind along the bank 5 to 10 feet out and let the ripples on the surface of the water do the work, It makes the jigs hop under the water very well. Adjust your depth if not getting any bites about a foot at a time til and try for about 15 minutes if no bite go down another foot and repeat this until you reach the bottom.
If nothing was biting on that jig change colors and repeat the process described above.
If you want to use live bait minnows, small red worms, grubs or even maggots (store bought) are all excellent live baits for pan fish.
Make sure you use light tackle with small fishing line, you probably only 2lb - 4lb test line when fishing for pan fish.
