I'm sure everyone will agree...you never really have it 100% figured out...but you can get close.
From my experience striper fishing and researching striper behavior, stripers are a unique animal. They are unlike any other species, and you have to go after them as if you don't know anything. Get some tips from people who know, and go out and experiment, experiment, experiment. Eventually you'll figure out a pattern that fits your fishing style. And while general striper behavior seems to be true no matter what body of water you're on, even individual lakes will have stripers that like certain baits, lures, and presentations that may be completely opposite of what you're used to on your home lake.
Part of the fun is figuring these fish out (and it takes some doing sometimes)...the other part is watching a big one double over your rod and strip line like a freight train!!
I've been fishing my whole life, most recently for stripers, and I have to say, sometimes it's almost like you can hear them laughing at you as your lure swims by...[:p]
My next step is getting to a Striper Club meeting and learning a few more things!
