hey about your question...... with like the 2-4 acre ponds i use a night crawler rig... what i mean by that i would go to walmart and buy the rubber warm rig the one with 2-3 hooks and tear the warm offf and put a good night crawler on it with no weights. which i cast out and reel in slow.... which i have caught every thing from blue gill to 4-5 pound bass.... which i have tryed hard crank baits in ponds like that with lots of cover from lilly pads and falling trees and stuff like that and lost hunderds of dollars of lures ..i figure a dollar is better than 7or 8 at a time.......nowon ther hand if your fishing like 200 acre lake i found that use crank baits to be very good like one that i fish the water is murkie ..i use lures that aint no longer than 3 inches that are dark and bright colored ... like the top of the lure is ablack or or dark color and the bottom would be orange and yellow with no reflective scales .....like last yr it was the fiirst time that i used crank baits....the first day i used abomber a7 that was green on top and yellow on the bottom with no reflective scales the first couple of hours i didnt get even a bit ... then imoved in to a spot where i caught15 3-5 pound bass in about hour ...... hey just try if it works for you good .....i know it works for me if you want more info just send me a message
