7' poles in a 5'5" bed doesn't work too well. I have one. Do you have a crew or a single cab? I have a crew cab, and stash them in the cab when I'm traveling to a fishing spot and need to run into the store or something. It's a bit of a pain to move 8 or 10 or more rods inside the cab and then back out again, but it's preferable to losing your gear. If I'm staying in a hotel, or flying somewhere they come inside with me. I agree with everyone else who has chimed in about the 1 piece vs 2 piece rod...don't do it if you can help it. Years and years ago I started out with the 2 piece. The ones I have left...they stay in the garage or get loaned out to kids who might be on the boat. There really is a big difference in sensitivity, feel, and weight.
