Crankbait rod
#24
I've owned several two piece rods in my lifetime. For one they were cheaper and easier to throw behind the seat of the truck and two I didn't know any better. Every rod that I now use is one piece, the difference in sensitivity is incredible. Whether you are dragging a worm across the bottom or throwin' cranks you can feel the slightest change right in your hand. You get to know the 'feel' of the bottom or a lipless crank hitiing a rock or stick but you know the slightest hit immediately because you can feel it in the rod. (Sometimes you feel something different and set the hook but swings are free [Smile])
I have an 8' rod tube that I put my rods in while flying or for road trips but I can't exactly throw it in the back of the truck without worrying about somebody stealing it but it will fit in the front seat pointing towards the rear. there I go rambling again. No doubt it's easier to carry around two piece rods...try this: with a friend hold the grip of the rod in your hand and have your friend hold the tip of the rod on his throat and tell him to hum. You can feel the vibrations in your hand. Do this with a one piece rod and you will be able to tell the difference. That may be a bit extreme but if you are fishing a lake where you could catch an 8lb. smallie you want the best sensitivity that you can get. Most of the big fish I've caught I've just felt a 'tap' on the line.
DO NOT get a two piece cranking rod! There is nothing more embarrassing than reeling in the end of your rod, lol. Done that!
