I saw the original post before the mindless chatter apparently caused the fisherman to remove his photo of a magnificent fish.
I assume everyone knows that both Utah and Wyoming regulations allow the retention of one Lake Trout in excess of 28 inches at Flaming Gorge. The regulations were created with the health of the fishery in mind. If the professional fisheries managers of both states agree that limited harvest of trophy Lake Trout is consistent with their management goals, then we should all recognize that some fishermen will choose to keep a trophy fish.
I think catch and release beyond the contraints of the regulations should be a personal choice and we should all respect the decisions made by another fisherman.
I assumed from the way the fish was being held that the fisherman probably decided to retain the large mac and that is certainly within his rights.
I personally share the opinion that large Lake Trout are a treasure and we should carefully consider the need to retain a trophy fish. I don't think we have any right to judge another fisherman who has made his personal decision.
If I wanted to hear preaching, I would attend a church, not a website that we share to enjoy the sport we love.
