Ive read thru all of this and feel a need to add my .02 so here goes...
you can get a really nice combo for 100 plus without breaking the bank.. but.. look for sales on upper end rods like the sage launch that is being discontinued.. nothing wrong with the rod just they have come out with a few new models to replace it..
next the reel.. Id sugges a reel like the orvis rocky mountain turbine...its a grear reel for a great price.. and you can get extra spools to vary your lines with.. for example.. I have this reel and I have one spool loaded with a good floating line... one with a intermediate sink line. one with a dt line.. so depending on the circumstances I can easily change the spool and have the line I want.. right now the spools are on sale for like 10.. so a great deal..
as has been said dont skimp on the line.. in the long run you will be glad you took the time to find a good line..
flies.. ask here as you have or your local fly shop or shop in the area of where you are fishing.. they will know what is hot and whats not.. remember their job is to sell gear.. like flies .. but.. their passion is fly fishing so they want to make sure your are a happy camper and want to come back and stock up each time you fish..
oh and one last thing.. dont forget the camera.. we all want to see the results of your exploits.. :-)
