I have seen every thing used from number #10 octopus to 3/4 inch trebble hooks.

stay away from the blood and wire hooks, look for heaveir gages and hardend hooks.

Mustad dose make a good heavy gage hook, I have yet to streighten on of those, I end up breaking the line.
