Maybe they would rather have me buy my outdoor gear online (which is cheaper) instead of in their county. I drive 40 miles to shop in IF and spend about $200 most of the time. That is around $250 a year they collect from me in taxes. I also buy food and fuel in Ririe most of the time that I am going fishing on the ice.I am sure any other town would want my business and taxes.
Paying the $30 is not the problem. I have heard that in the summer they run a shuttle to the ramp from up top for the boaters. This seems more expensive that plowing the parking lot a few times a year. I plan on using it in the summer to. There have many more fishing this year which means more parking fees and more taxes on new fishing gear. There will be continued growth if the county makes it a good experience for all. Being able to access more of the lake would be a good first step. Maybe another 1/4 or 1/3 of a mile where they can keep an eye on it from the parking lot would be a big help. I have only seen deer in the campground or in the field across the road and they didn't seem to concerned about cars and people.. Some access is better than none.
