Ririe I believe is part of the Bureau of Reclamation, Federal, but the activities are managed by Bonneville County Parks and Rec: http://www.packyourgear.com/Idaho/Ririe--Reservoir.aspx
I used to work for BLM since they have public lands around the resevoir in places, and if my memory recalls correctly, it was like pulling teeth originally to even get the first mile opened up to fishing. Im not saying it cant be done, but, your going to have to go through Bureau of Reclamation, Fish and Game, Bonneville County to get much done. Based on the article in the Post register over the weekend, Bonneville counties attitude is if you dont like it dont fish it.
Not much for a public service agency with a comment like that. I dont fish Ririe much, but I have to agree, way to many people for the area and the cost for what you are getting is rediculous.
Here are Craig Daniels comments in the Post Register from January 14th paper article.
Craig Daniels, the Bonneville County Parks and Recreation manager, has heard the complaints, but they haven't gained much traction.
Daniels begins by noting that ice fishermen have had to pay for parking since 1996, although many people have overlooked the self-pay kiosk.
"Payment has been on the honor system, and people are ignoring it," Daniels said.
This year, however, Bonneville County has been paying a person to man the tollbooth and collect fees.
Last week, the county collected $600 from anglers. Traditionally, the weekly take is roughly $300.
"That just shows me how many people have not been complying with the honor system," Daniels said.
He said the county will continue to gather fees with the goal of collecting enough money for snow removal and bathroom maintenance.
"It is not the only place to go ice fishing," Daniels said. "If anglers don't want to pay a fee, they don't have to go there."
Good luck!! Maybe start by going to this guys supervisor to get his attitude changed and help the public instead of ignoring us.
