Clark canyon reservoir 1-9-10
#1
I headed up to montana to try my luck at catching a Ling on saturday. The wind was blowing pretty good and the ice was all bare and slick.

I got to try out my new ice shanty I bought from Windriver, it worked great! The wind blew it around a little bit but once I moved and found a little snow to put around the bottom, it worked like a charm. I did have a brace that snaps to the top come off and ploop right in the hole. I finally got it fished back out useing my ice scoop and a bit of rope as a lasso. That kept me entertained for about an hour [Smile].

I didn't have any luck catching fish but had a pretty good time and learned a little about the lake. Most of the locals I talked to were friendly and good about giving advice. The south end has been having the best luck but the bite had slowed down the last few days. Everyone I talked to said it was a slow day. One older fellow said he had caught 3 all day.

There are shantys all over the place, and pick-ups and 4-wheelers moving them back and forth. The ice was about 18-20 inches thick. I was going to drive my truck across the ice but I wussed out, I just don't trust my luck. I hope to head back up there and give it one more try.
